this simulator

can be used to train your brain!

How it

Works!

The idea is to develop a virtual reality simulation that can be easily used on common VR Box style viewers with
the iPhone device. Reaction training is a major principle in drag racing where most drivers struggle to be better and many races are won or lost.

The VR APP simulates more of the factors of this part of the drag race, with most of the senses present, like the sound of the raging engine, the confinement of a drag car cockpit and the feeling of being in a helmet, along with the visuals associated with starting a drag race. This “practice simulator” is far more productive than any on the market today.

The VR App, Use with Google Cardboard

Based on some research through google and event searches, there is nothing like this in a mobile app. There are very large expensive simulators, but nothing the average drag racer could afford or even facilitate.

  • The racer would purchase and install the app on his device. They can choose to use their own VR viewer. Google Card board will also need to be installed on the device.
  • The racer will need to use a MFI (Made For iOS) Bluetooth controller to activate the app and to choose the options and to activate the race. The racer will need to pre stage and final stage to start the tree. Once both lanes are staged the racer will release the button on the MFI controller to capture the reaction time. The green light means positive reaction time and a red light means it is false start. The goal is to get as close to 0.000 without going Red.
  • The racer will pick Day or Night, and they will pick Left lane or Right lane. Then the racer will pick the type of Tree to practice; Pro tree or Full Tree options. When using Full Tree, the racer will have the option to practice Heads Up timing or Handicap (or Bracket race) timing. When using Pro Tree, the racer will option for a .400 sec. light or .500 sec. light. The racer will be able to adjust a roll-out and work with the delay box settings if they wish.
  • The racer will then option to Start training and go to the staging operation. Once both racers are staged indicated by the top blue bulbs, the tree will start.

A drag racer or future Sportsman could put on his VR box viewer and sit on their couch, at their desk, or in their bed and practice on a “true simulator“. The results should be a more consistent reaction time and this should be easy to test and improve. For the active racer, this simulator can be used to “train your brain” to be more proficient when having to race a Pro Tree, then move to a Sportsman or Full Tree, or train for events before attending.

From the novice youth racers in junior dragsters starting at age 7 all the way to seasoned veteran stock Eliminator racers, this applies to every drag strip in the USA, possibly worldwide and be very beneficial in the NHRA, IHRA, PDRA, SHRA, NMCA and just about any drag race application.

Use with Standard Devices

Anyone can use this App to get more of a real feeling of what it is like to be on a real Drag strip starting line!

  • Similar to the VR App, The racer will pick Day or Night, Left lane or Right lane, and then choose Full Tree or Pro Tree. When using Full Tree, the racer will have the option to practice Heads Up timing or Handicap (or Bracket race) timing. When using Pro Tree, the racer will option for a .400 sec. light or .500 sec. light.
  • The racer will pick the type of options per the Tree selected. The racer also will be able to adjust roll-out and use delay box settings. They would then start the trainer. Once both racers are staged, the tree will start.
  • The racer will need to activate the Pedal button for pre stage. Once ready to final stage, the racer will hold down the Pedal until both drivers are staged. Get ready! The Tree will start! Release the Pedal button to capture the reaction time. The green light means positive reaction time and for red light means it is false start. Best time closest to 0.000 is the winner!
